Opening of the WSSCC training on Equity and Inclusion in Sanitation and Hygiene in Senegal

IMG_0054The WSSCC training on Equity and Inclusion in Sanitation and Hygiene started this morning in Dakar, Senegal in continuation to the AfricaSan preparatory meeting for Central and West Africa held from 9-12 September 2013. The two days training gathers over 75 representatives from Central and West African countries and different groups (civil society, government, youth, disabled people, children, women, environment, etc.).

The objective of this training on Equity and inclusion in sanitation and hygiene are to:

-          Share innovative approaches for ensuring equity in sanitation and hygiene in Africa- especially Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) and disability, adolescents and older people.

-          Enhance skills and approaches on the practical application of equity and inclusion concepts in practice on the ground.

-          Explore how MHM can be advanced in policy and practice at scale in Africa.

-    Build a community of practice in West/Central Africa on equity and inclusion in sanitation and hygiene. 

Participants are expected to get a better understand of Equity and Inclusion in Sanitation and hygiene and also learn from their peers on how to overcome challenges in the sector.
